Dale -
What type blank? Action? Line Wt? Personally I think that you ought to go back and push for more guides to be put on these rods unless they're really, really heavy blanks. As you probably know cobia can get plenty large and they're a very tough fish - lots of endurance and tend to have a little "reserve" of enegy boat side (you certainly don't want a lively one in the boat with you!). He doesn't want you to warrant it against breakage does he?

M FAST 8 .865 7 If this is the blank then I would recommend you do NOT build this with the 5 guides that the man wants unless he really understands what he is doing and does not expect a free replacement . The last cobia spinning rod I built was on a PacBay PBX-II series graphite rod (7 footer) and it wound up with 8 guides on it to carry the load evenly. Admittedly I did opt for smaller rings but I used a "modified" concept layout & static distribuition test . At first I thought I could do this with 7 guides -- it just didn't measure out correctly Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
