I want to build a 8/9 wt rod for surf fishing and at some point, steel head fishing. I saw a forecast blank advertised in H& H and wonder if anyone has built one and how it performs. It would be a 13 ft. I think.

I think the spey guru, Bob Meiser talked about that a few weeks ago. Doing a search with his name as the author should pick it up.

Bill , take Spencers advice and find as much that is posted by Mr. Meiser as possible . I had the privlege of talking with him in person (over the phone) last year . Bobs name came up on every thing "spey" that I found on any site either related to building or spey fishing . Bob is one nice guy to chat with and is the front runner concerning rod construction and component choice . I really enjoyed getting to dabble with a new dicipline in the world of flyfishing ....................very interesting. Have fun , Joh

We do have a 13' 4 pc 7/8/9 fast recovery progressive action, progressive tapered blank available that is designed for beach fishing <> Two handed overhead deliveries.

It will also make an ideal Spey Steehead / Salmon river rod for the angler that prefers the faster recovery, progressive action two hander.
