I'm wishing to build a a 7' 50# to 80# to rod, I ordered a Seeker JB70H along with guides. The guides I ordered are Fuji GLRLG25, 20, 16, 12, and 4 10's with a 10 tip top. These guides they are discribed as heavy duty boat/ casting guides. The rod looks like exactly like what I want, but the 25 and 20 guides look HUGE. I'm in hopes some of you might be able to give me some insight before I start wraping this rod. I would hate to wrap up this rod just to find out that I screwed up with the wrong guides. Thank you all, once again, for all the help.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I've built many rods using the LRSG guides(SIC version) and always use at least a size 20 for my first guide. On all 50 and 60 and several 80# rods , I used a size 25 which is large. However, it is also bulletproof and high enough to keep the line off the hypalon when fighting a big fish. I acid wrap all mine and the turbo guides, ie, the LRSG guides, work great for this style of wrapping. I fish off long range sport boats exclusively and like the fact that the LRSG guides are brass not stainless like others, and won't rust or bend under duress(getting banged by another angler's rod in the heat of a wide open bite) The guides you've chosen will work just fine as long as YOU like the way they look. Will,
With that rod I would probably start with the 20 as the stripper then proceed toward the tip with the 16, 12 and probably 5 10's. I build quite a few rods similar to that configuration and the 20 as a stripper seems to work fine. The 25 might be necessary depending on what reel your using or exactly what your using the rod for (casting, trolling, etc.) but I think the 20 would probably be better.. Build up the handle assembly then temporarily tape the guides on with masking tape and see which configuration works best for you. I agree the 25 does look huge but the 20 looks a bit more tame. My .02, Randy. Re: Guides arrived today and need opinions

Get the handle and reel seat glued on. Then with the reel on pull some line off the reel and run it out the tip, with a little weight on..I use fly line. Then place each guide on where you want it and see how the line feels, if it hits your hand when under pressure, then adjust.
I don't like the ring color ? Re: Guides arrived today and need opinions

This will be a conventional rod. I want it for 50 to 80 lb. bait stick.
