Need for underwrapping/cutting butt section

Hi
Building my first rod based on a Sage Xi2 8# 4-pieces. I've gotten a lot of useful tips on this site but still have a couple of questions. First: The Sage Xi2 costs 900USD (here in Norway), so I want to get this right. Since it is my first rod, I am most focused on the performance of the rod(still want it to look good though). 1. Little confused about the underwrapping. Is this needed if the guides are prepared right? (Would prefer not to underwrap). 2. The butt section is equal in length to the top section with the tip top mounted. Adding a reel seat Struble U-15 with a fighting butt will make the butt section 2-4 cm longer than the other sections. Should I cut the end of the butt section to make all the 4 pieces equal in length?(Would prefer not to 'mess' with the blanks). 3 The Blanks are marked from Sage. Do Sage mark the Spine side or the opposite of the spine. Planning to place my guides/reel opposite of the spine. Appreciate any comments. Thanks for useful forum! No need to underwrap. It's a cosmetic function only in this case.
I would prefer the butt be just a tad longer than the other sections, to somewhat protect the other sections during transport and storage. You don't need a thin tip section protruding past the other sections. Sage marks the blank for the straightest axis, not the spine. ............ Re: Need for underwrapping/cutting butt section

I guess the straighest axis means that this markings from Sage is Sage's reccomandation of where to place the guides? (not to famiiar with all the terms).
