Choices, choices, choices of 8wt

So I'm building a rod for a guide on the Olympic Penisula, and he's got a general requirement that the rod feel like a VPS or old RPL 8 weight from Sage. Looking at the CCS site, I've got a couple of options, and would like feed back from others on the site. Basically we're going to be building a 'slower' action switch rod for swinging streamers..... The choices at this point are:

Dan Craft Sig V 8wt 9'6"

Gatti FR-3PA

RX7 IF1008

Now the CCS data isn't quite there for all of those blanks, but there are AA and ERN's for weights very close by. Based on those numbers the rods are all about 1 ERN higher than their rod ratings and the AA's are around 62-68. With that in mind and based on expereince, will this match the older RPL+ rods reasonably well?

Suggestions and comments are gladly welcome!

James,
The CCS data is based on the only objective measurements that are available. If you have one of the Sage rods that you want to duplicate to use for comparison you could also measure the resonant frequency of it and the other blanks. If the CCS data is very close and the resonant frequency is also very close then the two rods will be closer than anyone is going to be able to detect by fishing with them.

James,
Have you tried talking to Bob Meiser about this? He has an intimate knowledge of switch rods and a line of blanks to add to your list that will probably meet your needs.

Dan Craft 1008-4 FT is just about ideal for this purpose. The SigV, while a great stick, is a little fast for that application.
