Wrap still very smooth with improved blank to guide transition. I'm sure you can now see the improvement. Good luck with your rod!

Experience is the teacher.Better to have seen the earlier result and the later result to better understand the foot prep issue. What a lucky son to have a Dad build him a custom rod and let him help. The world needs more people like you to get the kids building rods and fishing rather than sitting and playing video games all day.I can tell you that since I started building rods I watch 1/5 the TV I used to and now it is mostly sports or educational.Surpase the reality tv @#$%& and that is the build time.(That why I have so much time to build).

On your wrapper, the wood holding the thread, smaller washers may help the thread turn easyer, also a long spring screwed into the wood behind it, then bent forward to hold the thread as you wrap, helps when you need to undo the wrap a little. The spring holds tension so the wrap does not all loosen up. Check out the photo page under equipment for more ideas.

Yes Rob. The one I kind of made similar to the flex coat drill lath. It rids on a chanel of 1 1/2" aluminum angle. 1/8" thick.

I am new to rodbuilding but Ive been fishing most of my life, mainly in the southeast states tidal ocean etc. i have never seen a rod like the ones in the pics where the guides snake around the rod. I looked around and didnt see anything about this. Can anyone let me in on the reasons for this without flaming me> I am just beginning to get into rodbuilding.

Thanks
