I'm considering using either TLSG5s or TLSG5.5s on my next light casting rod. The rod will be a 3C66MM, and will be used for throwing small cranks, topwaters, etc. in open water. I plan to use either 8 or 10 lb. test, no larger.
I've not ever used the 5.5s or 5s. All my rods have 6s on them. If I use the 5s or 5.5s on this rod, will I have any problems, like line noise, etc.? Re: Line size and 5mm guides

The much difference isn't likely to be noticed at all. However, I've never used them, most of my rods go to a #6.
The best way to get the answer you're looking for is just to try them compared to the 6's or 7's and draw your own conclusions. You're not talking about very much money. .......... Re: Line size and 5mm guides

The spinning rods with match guides use rings down to a 4mm for the line sizes you mentioned with no ill effects. You shouldn't have a problem. Re: Line size and 5mm guides

You'll love threading line through them; at least this old man's eyes do (the 6's are bad enough). LOL! Putter Williston, ND Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
