I was on another site and saw a picture of a "glide guide", it looks like a ring to take the place of a bumper guide on a spiral. Is this real or smoke?
Thanks, rhr Re: Glide Guide, real or smoke?

It's been shown on this site in the photo page. Anything that keeps the line from rubbing the blank is a candidate to get the job done. That's all the bumper guide is there for anyway - to keep the line from rubbing the blank as it passes by it on the way to the guides on the underside of the rod. It never did help or create any transition - I used a guide because it was something that worked and something that most rod builders could easily get their hands on.
No doubt there are many ideas and items that could perform the same function as good or better as a line guide. ........... Re: Glide Guide, real or smoke?

For a very comprehensive & well-rounded discussion of "Bumper Rings" or "Glide Guides", read both pages of this recent Thread:
