Just finished a wrap, and I decided to seal it along with the guides. There are white milky spots on part of the wrap and also on the guides is this normal? What should I do. Currently it is on the dryer... Re: Thread Sealer Little Help Needed

What do you mean by "seal it"??? Are you talking about CP or finish?? There is no need to put anything on the guides only on the thread wrap. If you are talking about a coat of white CP, there is no need to put it on a dryer. Just thoroughly saturate the thread, removing the excess and let it dry. You may need 2 coats. when completely dry, you can apply the wrap finish Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! I was referring to CP and I just put it on the thread(on the guides) and my wrap...The white went away, I am leaving it on the dryer to avoid sagging. I am unsure on how to tell if I need more than one coat. I think I will play it safe and put on two. Re: Thread Sealer Little Help Needed

If you really got the threads wet and did not thin the CP then one coat is about all you need. I don't think it wil hurt to add another but it probably isn't necessary. Go ahead if it makes you feel better. Peace of mind is priceless. Re: Thread Sealer Little Help Needed

If you are concerned with it sagging, that means you applied too much. NExt time apply teh same amount to all teh guides & butt wrap, then go back and wick of fteh excess, adn you'll be on point. You are probably still on point, but ther is a chance the wrap will have a cloudy appearance when it is humid, under the sun, etc. Re: Thread Sealer Little Help Needed

Thanks everyone for all your help....The threads still seem darker, it has been about 4 hours...Does CP change the color slighly....or is it just not dry enough yet... Re: Thread Sealer Little Help Needed

The "white" CPs, water-based - will darken teh threads a tad, even after they are dried. TEH best color retention CP is Gudebrod 811S. As long as the color is consistant throghout the rod nobody is goign to notice the color isn't matching the spool 100%. I prefer to have teh color tay teh same, so I work with teh best color retention CP - to each his own. Re: Thread Sealer Little Help Needed

I can only speak for the CP I use, which is one of the milky white colored CPs. Right after the CP is does look a bit duller and darker, but the color comes back to life after you apply the epoxy. Like Billy said it may not be an exact match, but unless you put them side by side you won't be able to tell the difference. This may not be the same as what you are using but it is with mine.
