I was at a fly shop today taking a closer look to see how various rods are finished. While looking at the male ferrule tip area, I noticed the blank was sealed off, as opposed to being able to see into the blank.
I don't remember reading in any of the three books I have on rod building as to if and/or how to seal the male ferrule tip hole. I would guess this is a good thing to do, as it would help protect the edge from chipping or splitting under use. How do you master rod builders out there treat this end of the blank? What is used to fill the hole, and how far into the blank should be filled? Re: Male Ferrule End

Some of the Rod Blank companies are using plain old RTV sylicone sealer. Bill in WV Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
