Feather inlaying is basically a process of laying on a feather or feathers with a choice of an adhesive. Many use color preserver, Permagloss, or even thinned varathane as this adhesive. It basically entails using one's imagination to lay out a feather or feathers to match a color scheme in a rod to add to the beauty (sure doesn't do a thing for the function! LOL) of the custom rod.
Inlays can be done on the bare blank, on wraps, on marbling, etc., etc. There should be a coating of smooth finish of some kind underneath first. Of course, a top coating of finish, too. Putter Williston, ND Re: feather wrapping??

Feather inlays are a very popular way of adding custom designs to fishing rods, bows and arrows, wood working, pool cues and many other applications. On rods the inlays only add to the beauty while not
imposing on function. You can see many feather inlays on the board photo section. Kate Davidson Siskiyou Aviary Re: feather wrapping??
