Date: December 27, 2005 09:30PM Finallly started my project of completely rebuilding a Daiwa Powermesh float rod - factory built. (complete re-wrap and finish as well as new handle) The rod is a 13 ft 2 piece float rod - just above the cork handle there is approximately 8" of graphics and what looks like brown coloured metallic paint coverered by the top coat of varnish (?) Would any body have any idea's on how I can remove the graphic's and met. paint from the blank - I'm wrapping in black and copper trim bands and would like to keep the look of the rod somewhat understated. Any help would be grately appreciated ................ Many thanks Mal. Marlow Re: Removing graphics and paint .......!

Have never removed varnish from a rod as of yet, but I would probably try to warm the area with a hair dryer and use the edge of a plastic knife to scrape away the finish and graphics. Regards......Doug@ TCRds Re: Removing graphics and paint .......!

If you are planning on putting something in it's place --- you could overwrap with NCP thread (and CP it again) then put on whatever you want in place of the factory graphics... (black might be nice with a simple diamond in light colors wrap over the top). Might save you a lot of time worrying over the graphics Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
