I just received my new TurncrafterPro lathe, bed extension, and 3 jaw mini-chuck. The mini chuck was part # LCM18 and does not allow anything to protrude through the head. There is another PSI 3-jaw chuck part #C3J-4 that appears to be a bit larger and looks as though it would allow something to protrude through the head and out the other side. Am I correct with this understanding? Thanks. Re: TurncrafterPro lathe question.

The C3J-4 is the one I use on my TruncrafterPro lathe, and, it's openning is large enough for mandrels to fit through the headstock.
Enjoy the lathe! They're sure a lot of fun. Re: TurncrafterPro lathe question.

I use a Nova Midi Chuck. I bought mine at WoodCraft, pricy over $100 but worth it. I use the 35mm spiggot jaws and use masking tape to make whatever is too small big enough to fit. For mandrels I use a 1/2 in drill chuck in the head stock with the live center in the tail stock. No. 2 morse taper. Bill in WV Re: TurncrafterPro lathe question.

Hello Bill, Tim, and Neil,
I just placed a order to Penn State for my turncrafter pro late. I ordered the LCM18 but since reading this I went back and ordered the C3J-4. Thanks for opening this thread. I am exciting about getting it in and trying to kick up my rod making a notch. I am tired of building moderate price spinning and boat rods and now I think the wood lathe might make my rods more attractive. Andy Dear has helped me greatly. He is a great guy and I ordered his video and am going to get a set of manderals from him. He is more than Helpful. Thanks Big John Rio Hondo, Texas Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
