If I use 600 grain wet sandpaper to remove existing varnish on rod surface, will this be sufficient enough not to damage the graphite rod blank? I am going to repair 12 older spinning rods I have.
Thank you, Capt. Marvin Engel Re: Removing old varnish on older rod to prepare for new varnish

Being that they are graphite rods, are you sure they have varnish on them? Re: Removing old varnish on older rod to prepare for new varnish

You do not want to sand the blank material regardless of what it is. I suggest reading the article in the library that has to do with
refinishing rod blanks. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Removing old varnish on older rod to prepare for new varnish

Get some Stripeeze and use as directed. Takes you down to the original matte blank. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
