Well, thats what I am looking for. My nine year old daughter wants a flyrod rod. I will need a small grip maybe five inches in length. Maybe a ultrafine would work. I have not turned my own cork yet but this might be the time. I have a drill and thats it. Any ideas for this novice builder out there? Re: kids cork grip?

be very careful while reaming out small grips. one of mine broke , i'm assuming because the smaller diamter had less strength for reaming purposes.
i think anglers workshop offers cigar grips in two versions, one being a slim style. eric fresno, ca. Re: kids cork grip?

With a razor blade, several grades of sandpaper, and some Elmer's Golden oak wood filler, you are set to go if you have an adult sized grip in your shop. First, trim the grip to the length you want. Then just take your time reshaping the grip with 80 grit sandpaper. Once you have the size and shape you want, fill any new pits with the Elmers filler, let dry and go through some finer grades until you get the smoothness you desire. No drill necessary. Before I got my Grizzly hobby lathe, I reshaped dozens of grips with this method and got great results. If you take your time, it's a piece of cake.
Or buy a 6" superfine grip. Those are perfect for 9-year old girls and Orvis customers, LOL. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
