It's been a while since I posted anything but I was blown away by a rig I just built- 10 ft., 7 wt. Dan Craft Sig V. This is a very nicely balanced blank and it throws a mile, not to mention that it is light.
I know Dan's blanks are well-regarded here but this one is special- Re: Dan Craft 10' 7 wt. rocket launcher

I liked mine a lot, too. Light. and a boomer....but too long for me! Found it too much rod for me for a full day........the 10 ft length wore out the arm.
Now I'm in love with my 9 ft 7 wt FT....Zowey! I can actually stretch more line out with it than I could with the 10 ft Sig V. And I've had an even longer affair with the 8'4 4 wt Sig V.........Sweet Mother of God, what a rod! Keith Re: Dan Craft 10' 7 wt. rocket launcher

My 10ft 7wt SIG V is my main light salmon/steelhead rod and I love it.It's definitely a great single hand rod for larger moving waters, and it is also perfect for beach fishing in the salt chuck.
I built mine with a titanium colored Struble U15 and full set of AT holographic ceramics, wrapped with Anglers Workshop 811Grape thread(with CP,this is a STUNNING shade of deep purple),trimmed with gold Gudebrod Electra holographic metallic thread(size A).The wraps look fantastic with the holo guides. If I was to build the same rod again I think I would splurge for Fugi titanium SIC's though as this is a blank that really should be kept as light and crisp as possible(as should all the SIG V's). The extra length of this rod does make it more work to cast than a 9fter,but you get the benefits of better line control with the longer rod.If I were fishing small rivers or from a boat,I would go with something shorter(the FT would definitely be at the top of my list) I think.
