I'm building a 7'6" 4wt fly rod. I will be using 8 guides total, including a #10 stripper. What size running guides should I use for the remaining 7 guides, and how many of each size. Also, would I use a 6mm or 7mm ring on the tip top. Thanks,

I'd use 6s eveywhere but the stripper. I'd use the Fuji LST SiC tip top, or the Pac Bay MT. Re: SF Ceramic Guide + Top Guide sizes for Fly Rod

I would use Fuji Alconite B or CLAG single foot fly guides, 10, 8, 6's to and including the tip. A #6 guide makes a good tip if you are saving weight. It's a good bit lighter than a B or CFAT tip. This is for 4wt. and lighter. For a 7' 6" fly rod I'd use 8 guides & place them according to static displacement. ( if placing a line tamer guide 4 in. (100 mm.) ahead of the butt guide. Ralph If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again. Re: SF Ceramic Guide + Top Guide sizes for Fly Rod

For weight look at the Titan guides, fuji Titanium, or even the single foot wire Re: SF Ceramic Guide + Top Guide sizes for Fly Rod
