Common sense kicking in ?

Hi all
I picked up a roller tip top for a heavy salt rod. One roller. Directly in line with the blank.
Now i am looking at it and if I want to make a spiral wrap, the line has to make a sharp turn upwards to go over the roller ?? Not good !
So am I correct in thinking I should get a roller top with the two rollers on it so the line goes on the bottom roller in line with the guides on the bottom of the blank ??
I get nervious with line knots hitting a ring.

That will work, sort of. That second roller was not designed to have a great amount of pressure put on it. Best bet is to use the rollers specifically designed for spiral wrapping - All American Guides Acid Rollers and Tops.

Thanks Tom

Tom

Looked at the American guides for spiral wrap.
The number I take it is the tube size, if so they don't have a tube to fit, there largest is 16 I got an 18 blank tip.
Now I could put the guides on top and use the roller I have, or put a ring tip top guide on.

Think I am safer with the guides on top and the roller ?? Wire line knots ?
Thanks

Hard to say. It is possible that you could split the top tube and conform it to the tip and wrap it on. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Obviously, you need to be careful and do a nice job if you want something that will not only work, but look nice as well.

I would not trust the guide then . I ordered a ring guide.
Will make up my mind after it gets here, cast or spiral wrap .

What about replacing the tube on the top?

From the pictures it looks like the frame is screwed to the tube and should be able to be removed. At that point, a little modification to the frame and a larger tube, may solve the problem.

As well, ask the factory about getting one with a larger tube?
