Got a request for the following:
"what I am looking for is something in the 10'6'' to 11' range that would load with 450 to 550 grain line head weight; ideally on the high end of med/fast, or low end of fast, tip flex; would prefer 4 pc but 3 would be OK; single foot guides thruout rod with salt water proof inserts. Obviously, 2 handed casting capabilities but with bottom hand grip only about 4 1/2" - 5" long, good salt water proof reel seat and the up-hand grip in the 14"-16" range." So, I would like to hear recommendations for the blank. Was thinking Five Rivers FT in the 10' length, extended to get 10'6" or 11" total length. But which 10' FT model to handle that grain weight? Other blank recommendations welcome too. So far, cost does not seem to be a major factor. Thank you, Steve Re: Help with striper switch rod blank selection please

I know from the Rosetta Stone and CCS what 450 to 550 corresponds to on ERN, but I guess what I am looking for is personal experience in how certain blanks perform with this style of rod and casting. If I recall correctly, when Robert Meiser initially reviewed the FT1007 and FT1008, he described throwing some amazing grain weights with those blanks and getting outstanding performance. So, I'm wondering if I really need to get a blank with ERN = 13.5 to 15.5 or if I can use less power and build the guy a lighter, more enjoyable rod to cast that, most importantly, can comfortably handle the load he's talking about. Thanks for any guidance or feedback here.
