I've seen a few posts asking for fixes of wavy finish, mostly over the long areas over the label. Being a noob myself (in my eyes) I thought I'd share.
I had one last night. I thought the finish (LS Supreme) was thin enough, but it wasn't and I got surf-sized waves. I fixed it mostly due to posts here, and this is how. I dry my rods on a 5rpm dryer. For the fix, I tried hand turning, five minute intervals 1/4 turns for the first hour. WOW! The second coat leveled right out! That was a huge surprise to me. Thanks to all you experienced builders here that graciously share their time and knowledge, just because. Re: Wavy finish fixed - post mainly for noobs

Generally, waves and lumps come from applying too much of a particular finish. Each finish can only support so much of its own weight. All will level on top, but will sag on the bottom if you apply too much. Rotating the rod then moves those sags around the entire circumference of the wrap.
Hand turning in intervals usually provides a nicer final finish job than constant rotation on a mechanical device. The downside is that you do have to babysit the rod for a couple hours. .................. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
