I would appreciate opinions by users/builders of Gatti Rods.
I have a very good friend I am thinking of building a rod for. He appreciates fine, high quality gear and things that are less common. I think he might really enjoy a Gatti. I recently got started in building rods and this would be a great excuse to start another. How do they stack up against rods like I am more familiar with, like Sage, Winston, etc.? What do you like and dislike about them? Based on what I've read on their web site they seem like excellent rods, but that's based on what they say and their "philosophy". I would like to hear from actual users. Thanks! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/02/2005 03:03PM by Ralph Tomaccio. Re: Gatti Rods/Blanks

I've been building Gatti for 2+ years.
Overall they are great rods, but the pros/cons vary by model. The FRHP - is the top of the line and the best blank I have ever cast, but it requires care. I have had mine for 2 years without a problem and I have built several without any problem - but if you highstick it, it will break. It's light and can cast a mile with no effort. The D2 and FRLW - are very nice blanks - They have most of the performance from the FRHP but more durable. My all around recommendation. The TA and FRC- Stiff and Fast action. Not my cup of tea but Fast Action guys love them. I would put them in between an XP and a TCR. The PA - Good all around - I like them if I am switching between sinking and floating line HTH, Christian Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
