I just cut a seat in half to remove it by peeling away.I am going to use Jesse Buky`s method to splice the rod bac together.Question is:The handle was extended with alluminum pipe that has no taper.Could i use a hardwood dowl to splice the handle together or a piece of blank shimmed with drywall mesh??

Once you get over the phobia of cutting your rod in half this is a very easy and quick repair method. I learned it back in 88/89 at this tackle shop where they got a lot of repairs on really cheap rods. Jesse
