CCS Mishaps?

This weekend I prepared an area to perform CCS measurements. Before mounting a rod or blank into my setup I though I'd inquire about potential technical problems. Has anyone had a mishap while performing a CCS measurement? Broken blank? Rod/Blank slipped out of holder? Split ferrule?
Thanks, Jeff Shafer Re: CCS Mishaps?

I've run over 200 blanks through the CCS measurements and have not had any problems. I do have a nice fixture for holding the blanks/rods and I wrap the female ferrules before loading the blank.
Since you are loading the blank from the tip, and not forcing it into any sort of oddball curve or flex, it would be rare to damage a blank during such a test. If a blank were to fail during the test, there would be a very good chance that there was something wrong with it. Just use some common sense when you perform the Common Cents measurements and you should be okay. And, don't try to run an 80lb class trolling blank through a 1/3rd deflection on your holding fixture- again, good sense should rule the day. .............. Re: CCS Mishaps?

Question for Tom--when you wrap the female ferrules for test purposes, do you coat them at that time, or is it sufficient to just wrap them?
