H&H IM7 Blanks

I was thinking of building one of these rods and just wanted to know if anyone could give me some idea of how these rods cast. Any comparisons with a factory rod or description of the rods action would be helpfull. Thanks.

They are the Pac Bay Rainforest II series of blanks. I've found them to be a nice, smooth, well finished, straight, and accurately rated blank that is moderate to moderate-fast action, depending on the model. They are by no means "fast" as they are listed in the H&H catalog and on their web site. On the CCS Data Site (link to the left) look at the Pac Bay Rainforest and Traditional Series (TRF and RRF) blanks and fly rods to get an idea of their numbers.
You may also want to consider the Rainshadow IM6 series blanks that H&H also sells.

I've built a 3 wt 7'6" H&H IM6 (Rainshadow) and a 3 wt 9' H&H IM7. Both rods are nice but the Rainshadow seems to be a little faster than the Rainforest. Could be the difference in length but if I had it to do over again, I would buy the 9' in the black/Rainshadow blank and not the IM7 I did purchase. The IM7 I would call moderate, not moderate-fast and is a little to soft for my liking.
