I've built a few IV's and like them well, what are your opinions on the StCroix V series.... better? worth the extra? lighter? more sensitive?.....

I've built and fished quite a few of both. Most of the V's have been the old green model but I did build one of the new brown ones....a 6'3"MXF which was extremely light.

The LT's are very nice blanks. I think they are only a little bit heavier and less sensitive than the LE but significantly less expensive. I can't really put the LT halfway in between the Avid and LE, it's much closer to the LE.

The LT's have a much wider selection of actions and powers than the LE's too. As a bass angler the LT's have proven to me to be the better bang for the buck. But the LE's are still top dog and about as close to a GLX as you can get.

I built up an 5C66MHF as a gift, and I still get the shivers when I think about how beautiful and light that rod was. I also got to fish with it a little--phenomenal! Can't really speak for the SCIV, as I've avoided that crazy blue color.

i won't buy a IV series unless st. croix doesn't have the model i need in the V's. if your going to spend the money buy the LE or save money and buy the III (avid). although i really like the bling, bling blue color. good luck.

I've professionally built a number of both the IV and V. If I were building for me, I would probably build the IV as the difference isn't that great in either weight or casting ability. From a professional standpoint, I almost always build the V because my difference in cost isn't that much and the perception in the public eye is that the V is worth a lot more, just comparing factory list price.
