I recently had to force my good ol' Taurus wagon into auto retirement (read "junked") after 170k problem free miles...got myself a Honda CRV (with leather seats!). The Taurus wagon had a wonderful 3rd seat in the rear that folded down flush with the cargo floor. My gear was always in there, " just in case"... I could store my waders, boots, vest, rain gear, assorted fly boxes and several 4 piece, 9 foot rod tubes in the 3rd seat storage area and no one would know it was there but me. Now, however, the CRV under-the-cargo-area storage is not as big. Not a real problem, I just have to carry a little less with me all the time. The real problem is that the area is about 2 inches too small to acommodate my 4 piece rod tubes...boo-hoo! Oh well, guess I'll just have to build a couple of 5 piece or 7 piece rods! I'd like to have a 4/5 wt and a 6/7 wt to cover almost any spur-of-the-moment fishing opportunities that could arise. Now the real question for you guys & gals...any opinions and/or experience with 5 piece (or more) fly blanks? Forecast? Dan Craft? What d'yall like?
Thanks! Tim Re: New Vehicle, New Rods

The longer Forecast models will be sort of whippy. The modulus is low and so the length and all those ferrules make it a little soggy. This would be for 9 footers and longer. I have not used the DC blanks so can't really comment. The St. Croix SCIV and V should be good bets if you can get what you want in a 5 piece model. Re: New Vehicle, New Rods

Dan has the new FLT blanks coming out that replace the Sig III. They are 5 and 6 piece blanks. A couple sizes should be there now with more coming I believe near the end of the month. Re: New Vehicle, New Rods

I have a Dan Craft Sig III 9ft. 7 wt - 5 piece and it is a great rod. I don't know if Dan still has any of the Sig III's but am sure the new FLT's will be as good if not better. When the 5 piece is put together you would swear that it is one piece. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
