i don't think it is brown and tan. it is called black and orange but in reallity it comes out brown. two sources. gudebrod classic twist can be had from neals fishing products. i just got some from him. golden witch has pearsalls naples silk in orange and black (also comes out brown). use it with a good CP or it will go too dark. i use water based urethane with good results. this will look nice on a cream colored rod. they also have yellow and black (really kind of green), black and white, and green and white. Dave I think you might be talking about an old Holland Satin Tone thread and the number would be 743T. It is a light brown and tan twist. Very hard to find since they no longer make thread for rod building. About how much do you need? Re: Two tone brown and tan twist thread

Dave, i'm wrapping the (gudebrod) "orange/black" on a (brown) rod right now - and it does come out brown and tan. I'm also using the color "rust" for the trim wrap - i think it really accentuates the 'brown & tan'. My next project is the "green/black" - which i figure will show up green and tan, also on a brown rod. Re: Two tone brown and tan twist thread

gary, the green and black is a little dark. you might want to try the yellow and black with and without CP. it may get you closer to what you want. i have a spool and will do a couple of test wraps this evening to see what i get on brown. Re: Two tone brown and tan twist thread

Sulky Ultra twist 922 3042 kind of a honey tan and medium brown that I'm sure will darken a little with CP. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
