Silver Matallic Fading?

What has been your experience with various brands of silver metallic thread with regard to fading? Particularly under something like Perma Gloss, which does not have any UV protection. Is it something I need to be concerned about? Thanks to all

Hi Fred,

I use Gudebrod HT silver and gold a lot and have not seen that problem although the rods are only about a year old.
I would think that any of the metalics would hold up quite well but I have heard of a couple of colors that tend to fade
more than others. Purple comes to mind but I have not used that one yet.

GO NINERS!! ( I couldn't resist)

Over silver if the finish starts to turn amber [they all do] it will look like bronze. Purple and Blue fade quite a bit Royal Blue looks like Aquamarine and Purple turns to pewter[gray] Jesse

Keep silver to very narrow bands such as two or three band inlays and the discoloration will not be noticed too much. I use it with Jesse black and the yellowing does not get too concentrated. Long silver underwraps can become pretty unsightly with time.
