Tom Kirkman static guide placement method...Calstar 7465H

Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of building a Calstar 7465H. This is a very stiff, ultra fast rod meant to be used on the rail.

Will hot melt glue hold the tip on with the 25-30 lbs of weight needed to fully load the rod?

Thanks

I think you will be better off with 5 Min epoxy

If you get some in-between the blank and tip-top, then yes, it will hold it just fine. Put some in the tube and on the rod blank ttself. Like most glues and adhesives, it's pretty darn strong provided you actually get some in the joint.

Now if you have the top you're going to use and know for sure you're going to eventually mount it with epoxy, you might as well do that now and just be done with it. Same thing - get some adhesive down into the tip top tube.
