Hello All,
I have a very good customer who wants to buy me a small scale metal lathe to do some fancy work on his current rod and future rods. Right now, I plan to work with mainly Aluminum. I want to use this lathe for Trim Rings, Hosels, Winding Checks, Butt Caps, etc. I am looking for a good quality, fair priced unit that will handle what I need without breaking the bank. Sooo.... 1. What size lathe would I need? 2. What brands/models should I look at? 3. What brands/models do I stay away from? 4. What additional tools would I need? 5. Anything else I need to know? Thanks in advance for your help and feedback. Philip Ptak Re: Small Scale Metal Lathe Questions

Phil,
Do a search on this...I outlined the metal lathe I use as well as the supplier. It's the best in class for the price. Here is the website www.lathemaster.com Andy Dear Lamar Manf. Re: Small Scale Metal Lathe Questions

Check out the Taig Microlathe. These are bulletproof and it's pretty much the same design for 40 years.

Some link for your research:
[littlemachineshop.com] [www.mini-lathe.com] I bought the Sherline lathe and mill. Very high precision, Made in USA. LOTS and LOTS of accessories, far more so than any other. [www.sherline.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
