If you are not set up with your favorite system to grind guide feet, I may have a new toy for you.
Just purchased a 3 1/2" bench grinder from Harbor Freight. It comes with a pink (Al. Oxide?) wheel and the fiber unified wheel for finishing as well as a 30" flexible hand held tip extension. All for $40 This is a very nice compact system and sits nicely at the end of my workspace and much quieter than my dremel. Grinding and finishing is quick and complete as I can go from grinding to polishing without changing tools. I use a pair of forceps to hold the guide foot next to the frame, but this would work with other holding systems mentioned in other articles. Hope this helps others. Any excuse to go to the Harbor Freight store is too much fun. :-) Terry Re: If you grind a lot of guide feet, read this.

Thanks for theTip Terry. Your are right about Harbor Freight - it is way too much fun to go and shop there. I think I make up work to by some of the tools there. They ought to rename it Toys R Us for the Big boys. Did you rubberize the forecep jaws? Re: If you grind a lot of guide feet, read this.

I bought one exactly like that one at Ace Hardware. The unit was the last one they had and was a demo. It was missing the flex shaft so I offered the manager $19 for it and bought it. It is a very nice machine. I place it on my rod table to grind the guides. It doesn't take up much room. I wish I could locate the flex shaft somewhere. I was very excited when Harbor Freight opened a store just 8 miles down the road. My wife calls it one of those "guy places". A lot of what they sell is crap so its nice to see the stuff and hold it in my hands before buying... Bob. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
