Hello, I own an old Orvis Superfine rod that is one of my favorites, as i was removing it from the rod bag last trip the tip section fell out on to the road and chipped the outer edge of the ferrule, the chip is small, and doesn' t touch the threads, or is it on the inside, it is just there to bug me, and I would like to sand the edge with a dremel tool, or sandpaper, to try and remove the chip, but before I do I would like to ask if that is a good idea, or has anyone had a similar problem, and how did they fix it.
Thanks Paul Kalbrener Re: Chipped rod

I would Block sand the edge with some 400 grit sand paper. Then clean the inside of the opening to make sure there are no burrs in it.
The dremel may be to fast and take to much off.. Just a clean up of the edge. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/14/2005 07:39AM by bill boettcher. Re: Chipped rod

Is it covered by a warranty? I'd contact Orvis about sending it to them for an inspection. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
