Hello, I'm just getting back into rod building and an wondering about these 1part urethane finishes I'm seeing. What's the deal? Do they work well? Why use these instead of good old epoxy? Do they dry quickly? Any responses or insites would be great. Thanks Re: Epoxy vs. 1part finish

I've used PermaGloss for most of recent projects. Why? Each coat is thin so I can be sure I don't get too much finish on a wrap. PermaGloss is very durable, more durable than epoxy I've heard. Yes, it dries quickly. I typically need 4 to 6 coats to cover a wrap. I don't have to worry about measuring epoxy, mixing epoxy correctly, pot life, bubbles -- most of the common problems that may crop up with epoxy. It wouldn't hurt to buy a 1 oz. bottle and give it a try. Re: Epoxy vs. 1part finish

I like Klass Kote epoxy paint. The poly will also work well, but expect more coats than with the KK. Either much easier than regular epoxy. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
