Rat-tail file + Drill ?

It has been mentioned before that some of you were using a rat-tail file chucked up in a drill to ream grips. Drill chucks have three teeth. All of my files have a four sided end. The two don't play together well. How are you getting the two to mate?

You need to cut off the tang (square piece), chuck into drill and run drill in reverse when reaming to avoid seizing. Works great

Thanks Mike!
I had tried the file/drill method and had a heck of a time with it seizing! Didn't think
to try in reverse! Duh!

Can't take credit for that one. Picked it up here on the Board!

Ryan,
The file you would be looking for would be called a rat tailed bastard file. The bastard means that the file can be run foreward in a drill and still have the correct orientation of the cutting edges. This will help with the chuck on the drill not loosening as the drill will be run in foreward and not reverse. Crazy name for a file huh ;)

Tight wraps and lines,
Wylie
