Need help with question. Why is there such a thing as a butt wrap? Thanks in advanced. Re: Have blank, going to try, Newly Registered

To make it look pretty. If this is your first rod concentrate on making a rod that will perform well for you by choosing the right blank and components and doing neat wraps on your guides. I have made several rods for my own use and all I have put in front of the foregrip is a hook keeper. Butt wraps are the sizzle and not the steak. They are eye catchers and help to sell rods. I like them on surf rods myself. Re: Have blank, going to try, Newly Registered

Thanks Ellis,
I was not able to get an answer from my fishing buds, non of them build. There waiting to see it works out for me. I'm going skip the butt wrap being this is my first. Re: Have blank, going to try, Newly Registered

Bill,
If this is your first rod, I would suggest that you invest about $15 for "Rodbuilding Guide" by Tom Kirkman. Most vendors on the left carry it and it will be the best $15 you'll spend. It will save you a lot of headache and guide you step by step through the entire process (over a hundred photo's). There are a lot of very good books, video's out but this is the best for a beginner/novice IMO Mike Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
