I've seen pictures of factory rods with a notch underneath the foregrip allowing one's finger to rest directly on the blank for "increased sensitivety". I've looked through the various sponsor's websites and haven't seen any. Are these available or are they proprietary to specific rod manufactures? I suppose I could knaw one out on a verticle spindle sander if I can't find any. Thanks. Re: Foregrip with notch underneath exposing blank.

You will find them under "blank exposed trigger reel seats" at many of the sites to the left. Look under Fuji or Forecast reel seats. The one thing that you need to be aware of is to measure the diameter on the blank where the reel seat will fit and order the seat with that interior diameter. Since I build my own grips, I sand a portion of the grip that will fit inside of the blank exposed reel seat to fit. I expoxy the real seat to the rear grip and then pour expxy down the front ot the seat. Be sure you have a tight fit because the epoxy will pour out where it is cut out for the blank to be expsed. I then wipe any expoxy that leaks out and set the rod vertically in a rack. After the epoxy has set then I glue the foregrip on. I like the Fuji seats better because they are labeled with the hole size. I have a few seats in stock and after I measure the diameter of the blank in mm's I know what reel seat to pick out ot my stock. Re: Foregrip with notch underneath exposing blank.

I'm not looking for a reel seat that's notched out, I'm looking for a "foregrip" on a spinning rod that was notched out on the underside. I just saw one online somewhere this morning, I just don't remember where. Thanks, Re: Foregrip with notch underneath exposing blank.

Sorry, I misread your post. It looks to me like it would be easy to make a fore grip like that. I would use a wood rasp and cut out a section. Re: Foregrip with notch underneath exposing blank.

Tim, I hear you on this one, very interesting, could be one heck of a good concept to use for jigging with a spinning rod on the detroit river. Holding a reel between your ring finger and your small finger as i do, with your first finger on the blank would be a good strike indicater. If you need any help on the r&d on this one let me know. I need to go and experiment on this for next springs jigging season, Thanks, great idea got me thinking now. John Re: Foregrip with notch underneath exposing blank.

Also if you want more blank to touch your hand, make the top of the reel seat exposed. Like done with casting seats. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
