Just a question regarding the turbo-type guides. I just finished a rod more out of experimentation than anything else with Fuji turbo style guides but have yet to actually try them. My questions are do many builders out there use them and what are the pros and cons? I can't seem to find too much specifically about them over the internet. Randy.

It depends on what you call the turbo type guides. The only actual Turbo guides made by Fuji, called Turbo by name, were the very heavy duty mushroom ring versions of the old RSG. I can't remember their model number but they haven't been made in about 18 years or so now.

Are you talking about the LRSG? Those are outstanding guides.

And they look better than the U frame guides. Also less expensive than using rollers on a heavier set up.

Yes, I was referring to that style of guide. I call them Turbo guides but I guess that's kind of a trade name and not what their actually called. I'm anxious to try them anyways even though I've never used them before. Just trying to get a bit more insight should I get a customer request for them. My understanding is that they are (more or less) a somewhat light trolling guide and not so much intended for long casting. Thanks, Randy.

I use Fugi LRSG turbo guides on all my 40# to 80# rods for tuna fishing out of San Diego. Never had a complaint and they don't rust like the HNSG guides cause they are brass. Even put them on an 8' jig stick and caught a 65# bft with it in June.

And AmTack's TITAN Series has a heavy-duty titanium frame guide (with Nanolite ring?) they are calling TURBO which warrants consideration. ... Wish I could speak first hand on that one, .. not yet, ... -Cliff Hall+++

Worked very well on some sturgeon and halibut rods I've built, I used the Forecast versions the ST guides.
