Hi all, bought a wrapper a few months back, and tried using a picnic folding table, which doesnt work well. Just wondering if anyone has any plans for a wrapping bench? Thanks! Chris

I picked up 3 (5 might be better) shallow melamine base cabinets and 2 6' melamine shelves.

I setup the base cabinets 1 cabinet on each end and one in the middle. I cut some supports to be nailed inbetween the cabinets. Then nailed the shelves to the top to form the bench.

The cabinets/shelves were about 2 1/2 times as wide as my rod lathe so I have pleny for room for the lathe and 2 dryers. I don't take up anymore space than I need and I set it up in 3-4 hours.

The RodMaker issue before last had plans for a nice wrapping station/bench. I don't have room here to go into the details that make it work so well, but at it's heart are two filing cabinets on top of which you set a solid core door. Simple, inexpensive and if you set it up right it makes a pretty darn sturdy and convenient wrapping bench.

I set up a solid core dore on legs and it works pretty good. Had I thought about it, I would have done it like Tom suggested with the filing cabinets. . . a much better idea. I probably will add the cabinets this winter.

I used 2 narrow kitchen base cabinets (2nd's about $30) and an 8' formica countertop (about $50) works great and the formica top is easy to keep cleen and epoxy, etc cleans right off.

Home Depot has a kit to make a work bench. The kit has the connectors, you order the lumber (2x4's) according to how you want the bench to look. The basic bench can be modified any way you like, lengthen, shorten, etc. I have one for my rod bench and plan to modify several for a future darkroom sink and work benches. Very versitile.
