I want to make my own waterslip decals for my rods.
Anyone with knowledge/experience of this?

Thanks.

I attempted making my own decals using inkjet printers, but since they lack the ability to print white letters I was unsuccessful. I also found that other colors looked fine on the clear waterslide decal, they nearly disappeared when applied to a blank.

Many others have had experience with making their own decals, and have shared their results here on the board. Give the Search function above a try to see their results.

Good Luck,

Jeff

Inkjet printers generally won't do the job. The labels will fade quickly. Print out a label and set it outside and see how long it looks good. For just about the cost of the ink & paper, D4cal Connection can do up a professional metallic water slide. Their service is great and fast (a couple days)

Give Jimi a call or e-mail.

I tried the inkjet approach, too. In your search, you'll find that the ink disappears on a dark background, only appearing as normal on a white background.

I ponied up the money and bought an Alps MD 1000 printer. It uses cartridges much like a cassette tape and prints in metallic gold, silver, blue, and red (maybe yellow???). It also has normal, non-metallic colors.

These printers are not sold new in the US; Australia has new ones, though. Maybe Myles out of the land down under will chime in about that...

I got mine on an online @#$%& store.

Lionel,

I'm with Putter on this, nothing easier than walking over to the computer and printing out a personalised decal within a couple of minutes.

If you are after a new one, drop me an email and I can put you intouch with the guy who sells them out here. He will ship to the US.

Bob last time I think they where about $500 Aussie Dollars about .75c US to the Aussie dollar, expensive yes ,but they do sell for around $200 USD second hand on @#$%&. I have only heard of a couple of people, Putter one of them who has got one in working condition second hand. The guy here did have some for $350 Aussie dollars without warranty, I bought one of these myself. It was new never been used and not a return, just that the box had been opened and cartridges removed, what I had to buy serperately.

email me if you want any more info.

Coupla questions:

Can you print a logo?

What file format does it use?

Could you print 3 decals for me?

Lionel
