New rodbuilder in the making

A few days ago Jeff Wolfanger posted on this site asking for help on getting started on rod building. Bill Stevens gave him some good info and told him to get in touch with a rod builder in his area. Well this evening Jeff came over and we spent three hours talking fishing and rod building. As Doc says on his video, what makes you feel good is when you can give it back to someone starting out. It was a pleasure meeting with Jeff. We plan on getting together to do some fishing and building a few rods. The nice thing is that we only live about 15 minutes from eachother.

I've got the exact same thing going on here and I'm finishing up my first build though we've been fishing buddies for a while.. What a great passtime!

Cheers.

Yep Ellis, I'm now being able to help some people in my local area too, now just have to find the time to meet up with them.

Yes, there is nothing like sharing the experience of rodbuilding !! I, for one , will be teaching a rodbuilding course up in Amarillo, Texas, at the Cal Farley Boys Ranch, .....Spring 2006..
From there, in August 2006, I hope to be teaching a rodbuilding course at the Blackfeet Indian Community College at Browning, Montana.....
We all need to share the knowledge we have !!!
