Advice on Re-Finishing Kunan Spinning Rod

As a result of the knowledge gleaned from this forum and Tom's most excellent 'Rod Building Guide', I recently managed to completely refinish and rewrap a very 'experienced' 7 ft Ugly Stick spinning rod with results that were truly amazing considering I had never even tried before. I am about to repeat this excercise with a 7 ft. Kunan Boatmaster spinning rod. I know that the Kunan factory burned down log ago and that these rods are somewhat in demand. As the blank is in bad need of refinishing and I will almost certainly remove all traces of the Kunan logos / decals by stripping the old finish, am I about to ruin something that should be preserved rather than refurbished and put back into service? It has served me well over the last 15 years and I would like to continue using it, but it ocurred to me that I might be making a mistake...any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

It's doubtful that the rod will ever be very valuable in a monetary sense. If I were you and I really liked fishing with it, I'd refurb it the way I wanted and take it fishing.
