I was wondering, why couldn't you use the same dryer set up as a finisher, too? Re: finisher/dryer

there is no reason you cant but yll find its easier to apply finish at a higher rpm and dry on a slower rpm motor i applyed and dryed on a 4rpm for years but you cant apply epoxy as fast wich is a pain from time to time deppending on the rod........imo tight wraps Re: finisher/dryer

I rotate the rod by hand when applying finish so that I'll have greater control over what I'm doing. I also dry by hand but if I was using a dryer I'd just move the rod over to it at that point or attach the belt or whatever and start it up.

For guide wraps, I apply the finish by hand with the rod section chucked up in the dryer. The dryer motor will allow me to rotate it by hand with very little effort. If I was foolish enough to use snake guides I could apply the finish with rod rotating, but the angle of the ring on either single foot wire or single foot ceramics makes it a bit tricky. For the long areas, like over a decal or feather inlay, I apply the finish with the rod rotating. I use a foot switch so I can stop it whenever I want or need to.
