conversion of a baitcast to spinning

I am thinking of redoing one of my baitcaster's MH 7' that I don't use anymore over to a spinning rod. Have not started yet and was curious if there are any down sides to this other than a lot of work to remove old guides and the handle from the baitcast rod.

Once the work of stripping the blank is complete, there should be no problem. A blank cares not about the type of seat or reel eventually mounted onto it. As long as the blank has the characteristics you want for this spinning rod, it will be just fine.
