Hello all. I have a question regarding the balance point on a fly rod.
Is a butt cap used to get the right balance on a rod ? I have seem some lighter weight fly rods with a rear cork section similar to a 7-9 weight and was wondering if this was primarily for asthetics or function? thanks, Tom. Re: balancing a fly rod/butt cap

Normally no, that's not what it's used for.
I would suggest moving to a larger reel in order to get the rod to balance farther towards the rear. ................... Re: balancing a fly rod/butt cap

A wood grip also helps to balance out a fly rod. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
