Has anybody tried the new Diamondite coating or Hypalon adhesive. Just saw some advertised and was wondering what people thought as compared to our other popular products. Thanks Re: DIAMONDITE

I haven't tried them, but Tim will be in Charlotte at the National Rod Builders Show with all his company's products and you can see them demonstrated live there.
In the meantime, perhaps someone will chime in with their own experiences with these products. ................. Re: DIAMONDITE

I saw the finish at two shows out here and was quite interested. Looked really clear and smoother and loved the idea of the working time . He was supposed to send me some samples to try but I havent received them. I think you will like how it looks. Re: DIAMONDITE

I have a sample and will use it shortly and report. It sets up in an hour if direct lighting is applied but I'm waiting for an answer as to it can be used without lights which would result in a longer setup time. Re: DIAMONDITE

If it works like I think it does, the amount of light will affect the setting time. If you work under a red light, you can go for a long while. If you work under weak regular lighting you also get a decent work time. When you really put strong light to it it will begin to set very quickly. The quick set up is good but having to work under poor lighting if you want a long working time could be a drawback. I plan to take a hard look at it at the big rod building show in Feb. According to Tim Campbell, the finish is not affected by the light as it is by the heat generated by the light. Heat activates the quicker set time. Re: DIAMONDITE

Mel,
According to the instruction sheet and Tim's own PDF file the finish is "activated by incondesent light" and the set time is "accellerated" by heat. Ken, I think the use of good florescent lighting durring the application process would not present a problem but I am only about to use this product for the first time myself so we will have to wait and see.
