I have half a bottle left of the black topped Flex Coat Part A Resin High Build Formula that is starting to gel up. When I try to ssuck some up with my syringe I just get lots of air. Is this stuff gone or can it be salvage in some way. I just have one more coat to finish up this rod build and really don't want to wait for delivery of a new batch. Any thoughts on using this up in some way.
Thanks Re: Flex Coat Rod Wrapping Finish Resin Part A

Warm it up and it should turn liquid again. Either a few seconds in the microwave or place the bottle into a jar of hot water. Re: Flex Coat Rod Wrapping Finish Resin Part A

Take the cap off and microwave for a FEW seconds...it should thin it out. Being warm, it will also decrease your working time. Re: Flex Coat Rod Wrapping Finish Resin Part A

Right, this is a common occurance and heating the resin in order to return it to a like new condition is just fine. It will not harm the resin in any way. Do let it cool a bit before using it, or the increased temperature will result in a much quicker setting finish batch - you might get caught short and find it sets up before you're done finishing all your wraps.

I usually put the epoxy or finish, both bottles, in my shirt pocket 30 min. to an hour before mixing. this works fine unless the stuff is crystalized. If so put the bottles in hot, not boiling!!!, water for a few minutes. when it is liquid again, put it in your shirt pocket, let it cool if need be, again for 30 - 60 minutes so as to have the maximum working time. I put the bottle of Perma-Gloss in my pocket the same way to warm it up. Ralph If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again. Re: Flex Coat Rod Wrapping Finish Resin Part A

Thanks Guys I was worried I have to toss the stuff out and wait for a new batch. This way I can finish up the rod while I order some for my next builds. Re: Flex Coat Rod Wrapping Finish Resin Part A

Do the other finishes seem to have this problem? I have had several bottles crystalize and one form chunks, and not wanting to chance having a bad finish on a wrap that I spent 4 or 5 hours one go to the razor blade, I chucked them. I know that warming the resin thins it back out, but it can also shorten the working time dramatically, I would like to avoid that process if I can. Re: Flex Coat Rod Wrapping Finish Resin Part A

Yes, it happens to all brands. Just warm it up and get it back to the liquid form. Let it cool to room temperature before using it and the pot life will be as normal. Putter Williston, ND Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
