I saw this on Mudhole's website and they look like they would give a custom rod a real clean look. Has anyone tried these and what are the pros and cons with them? Thanks. Re: Fuji "Quick Loc" hoodless reelseat - any good?

They are OK, as lons as you dont' use cork. I had 3 Ugly sticks + a SC I made for myself with this foregrip, all with thin cork - all had the cork split. Since there is no hood, teh seat conforms to teh reel foot, and basically stretches out. TEH tighter you make it, the more it stretches. Unfortauntely, when you fish teh rod for a while, the cork is getting squeezed, stretched, adn since it's thin, it doesnt' hold up adn it will crack.
That's my experiance with these foregrips. I think if you use your inagination, you can come up with other ways to use this product though. Re: Fuji "Quick Loc" hoodless reelseat - any good?

You may be better off with the quick lock that has the hood attached to it.

Hi Bill,
Do you know if the Fuji quick-lock fore grips will work with the exposed blank casting seat by Forcast or any other manufacturer? Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Fuji "Quick Loc" hoodless reelseat - any good?

Generally they will. Size for size you can mix and match most of these pieces without any problems.

Hey Raymond-
I agree with Tom that size / thread wise the components will be interchangeable - at least in my experience. But you might want to experiment with mixing and matching components a little bit before you do anything permanent. While the components from different manufacturers will fit togther, I have had some frustrations with the nut loosening during fishing on both spinning and casting seats. This has not happened when mixing and matching Fuji components together, but it has happened when mixing Batson or AMTAK with Fuji and vice versa. I really haven't tried Pac Bay that I can remember. This 'mis fit' doesn't always happen but it has occurred, especially with size 16 components. So, maybe tape one up and press fit it and go test it a bit before you commit yourself with Rod Bond. I hope this helps. Good luck! Bill Re: Fuji "Quick Loc" hoodless reelseat - any good?

better yet just don't mix. I mean if it going to make a hood loosen up.
There is also a remedy. If you mix and find that the hood fits loose, then you could put a coat of Permagloss just on the threads to take up any slack and make it fit tighter. Too thight you could sand the threads with a fine sand paper and take some off to make it fit better. There is more then one way to skin a cat. Poor little kitty ?
