Name removal

I want to remove a name from a rod which has had 2 coats of rod finish over, any suggestions would be appreciated

If the finish is epoxy, nothing will dissolve it . Sanding / scraping off the outer layer of finish is required. Once you reach the name, then a solvent like De-Natured alcohol may remove the name if it is ink and not decal. Otherwise, more sanding. Re-touch with Permagloss or the rod blank finish of your choice. -Cliff Hall+++ Re: Name removal

The epoxy can usually be peelef after warming it with a hair dryer/heat gun (not to hot) and getting it started with a razor and peel it off. Rod finish is not an adhesive and usually comes off easily once you get it started.
