I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it.
I'm building my second rod, first with FC Lite though. I just applied it (apparently in too thick of a fashion) and it looks great, with just one coat. Is there anything wrong with applying only one coat of lite?

No neccesarily. The biggest difference between the high or regular build or the lite version, is that the higher build can be applied thick or thin, but the lite version can only be applied lightly.

You'll have to decide if you have finish depth to protect the thread (that's what thread finish is there for). Most likely, one application will be fine, although you won't have a great deal of protection from abrasion. Maybe you don't need that sort of thing and if not, then you should be okay. As long as there is some finish on top of the thread (and you filled the tunnels) then I doubt you'll have any problems.

We've probably gotten a little too used to seeing the higher build, glass like surface provided by high build epoxies or multiple coats. At least some of that may be overkill, but fishermen tend to like the way it looks.

Just becacuse it's a lite build finish does not mean it won't cover in one coat. As long as the wraps are completely sealed with finish and everything looks good, then one application should be fine.

It's no exactly one coat, but you can get excellent results from applying a single coat of FC Lite over top of a single saturating coat of Permagloss. It's also much less time consuimg that two coats of FC Lite.

I often use only one coat of FC lite on lighter flyrods 0-4 weights. I just make sure the tunnels are filled first. After I apply the coat to the thread and usually to the point of a good sag then remove the excess, turn over 180 let sag and remove in the same fashion- then let it turn. Haven't had a issue and the wraps come out glassy without too much weighty buildup.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm not totally decided on what to do with it yet. I like the look, but on a couple of guides I can see a small amount of air sealed in the tunnel. I suppose the correct way to ensure the tunnels are filled is to start at the toe of the guide foot and work my back. It's the little things that nobody will notice, but me and those in the know, that make the rod complete. Being that it's a 6 wt xp I'll probably put another coat on for a bit more durability. But will the guides that show air trapped in the tunnel need to be rewrapped? Luckily I only applied finish to the thread which makes removal a lot easier.
