Odd things you may have wrapped

I was just wondering if anybody else ever experiments on wrapping things besides rods. I just wrapped 2 of my duck calls in anticipation of the upcoming season. I just through a few bands on the tweeter (as i call it) end of the call. I've also tried wrapping an old powerbait jar (ok, i admit i've used bait before, sue me). i practiced on a pen when i first started wrapping. I just thought it would be interesting to see what ya'll have done and maybe get some idea. I was thinking about doing the shift knob in my car. Or possibly part of my antenna. I think the antenna would make it easy to see the rod builders on the road when there head turns as if to go "did he do what i think he did".....yeah i see it now a chevron'd antenna. lol

Aaron,
You must have to much time on your hands! LOL!
Like I had at one time! Yes, I thought about wrapping the short black antenna on my old 280 Z
but my wife talked me out on it. I have done some thread work on a couple of golf putters and
a few gaff handles and they were "cool". Have also thought about adding some thread or light
rope wraps on some home made rod tubes to personalize them.
A few "regulars" on this board are very good at marbling and I understand they like to marble
almost everything! I have thought about practice marbling on a couple of bic lighters, pens, &
things before trying a rod blank. Amazing how some crafts can bleed over into others!

Raymond Adams
Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it..

Walking sticks for friends, a couple of fly swatter handles, a pool cue, and a feather duster.

Odd for sure.

Derek

I think almost everybody has made at least one PVC rod tube. I began wrapping mine like a rod with Mason line, the stuff used to "snap" lines in construction. Now I do it all the time for rods I build, instead of more costly and eventually scratched up aluminum tubes. You can even incorporate handles on them if you like. I've gone to 4" PVC for airline travel tubes, wrapped with soft, nylon tow rope the same thickness as the end caps (for a smooth look and better carrying ability, nothing to catch on things) with handles and shoulder straps built in. Very nice to either check or carry on at the airport.

2 cents,

Tim

I've seen pictures on teh boards of a Pringles Potato Chip canister done by jim Kasteroff. I saw a broom with grips, a guide, butt wrap & reel seat (lol). Wine glass, candlestick, light fixture - all these were done by Mike Joyce & they are on the photo board.

" One pair of Lee 18ft. outriggers[6 one ounce spools of D thread], "

With all that extra weight you added, do you think you affected the performance of the Outrigger? lol.

Right now, I'm working on wrapping wood arrows for a traditional archery friend of mine. The next step is to add some decorative wraps/feather inlays just above and below the riser on his longbow.
